Whether you're looking for the thrill of whitewater or a mellow float, our area provides plenty of opportunities. Cherokee Village has the South Fork of the Spring River running through it. The Spring River itself begins at Mammoth Spring on the Arkansas-Missouri border, where the crystal-clear water flows right out of the ground at an amazing rate of 5.8 million gallons per hour. It is one of the largest natural springs on earth. The 15-mile Mammoth Spring to Hardy run (shown below with some of the smaller rapids) is rated Class1-2. Other rivers in the area offer more difficult challenges. There are a dozen or so outfitters in the area that offer rentals, cabins and trips ranging from beginning to advanced. Rafting or canoeing on these clear waters is an experience not to be missed.
